Teeth Cleaning

Removal of existing plaque and debris from the teeth is essential for maintaining oral health. This allows for the mouth to maintain a proper pH level, prevent cavities and gum disease, and promote a fresh, clean smile. From general and routine cleanings to more advanced periodontal cleanings, the best results come from customizing treatment for each patient.

What's Involved?

1

Analysis and Measurements

To begin understanding the type of treatment you personally need, we need to measure the depth of your pockets around the teeth. This gives us information about the bone height that supports the teeth and tells us the risk your teeth have for debris surrounding them, which can cause harmful inflammation. Radiographs will also be taken to further assess the status of your periodontal health.

2

Initial Cleaning and Debridement

If there is a substantial amount of debris, it may be necessary to perform an initial "mass reduction" of the build-up, allow for the gum tissues to begin healing, and then return at a future appointment to finetune the cleaning of the mouth.

3

General Cleaning and Maintenance

The preference in general situations is to see you every 6 months to make sure the mouth is properly cleaned and maintained. Once your oral health is under control, these appointments become routine and almost celebratory. This is also a time to visit with the supervising dentist to go over any potential concerns regarding the structure of the teeth.
